Nine Benefits of Membership
- Membership indicates that you are part of a dynamic, ethical, and organized professional National organization of auctioneers that believe in a Code of Ethics and Conduct and the auction method of selling items.
- Membership permits you display the Auctioneers Association of Canada logo.
- You will receive regular and up to date information about auctioneering from all across Canada and a subscription to The Canadian Auctioneer which is published quarterly.
- Professional Development is available to members through:
- The Institute of Canadian Certified Auctioneers - the ICCA. The only advanced auctioneering course in Canada. A two year course, a week a year and home study, sponsored, conducted, and managed by the Association for its members. The two modules cover marketing, finance, financial analysis, law (licencing, civil law, bankruptcy, personal property, and more), advertising, customer service, computerization, the internet, etc. Professionally designated instructors teach all classes.
- International Society of Appraisers - the ISA. This internationally known designation is available to members through the Distant Learning Program of the ISA. The member participants work at home to complete the two Module One (17 lessons) and Module
Two (10 lessons). At the end of Module One an opportunity for a two day instructive
review and exam is offered. Designated Professional Instructors are provided for the participants who will graduate with a nation wide recognized designation of proficiency and professionalism in appraising.
- Convention seminars and workshops on current issues.
- A team of elected Directors and the Email the AAofC Executive Director who work to deal with the issues of the day to support the business of Canadian auctioneers and particularly the members of the Association.
- Members are eligible to compete at the World Champion Auctioneers Competition held each year at the Convention.
- Membership applications and are reviewed and approved by the Membership Committee/Executive.
- The Association maintains an office so members and consumers can call for information and advice regarding regulations, schools, licencing, and can be referred to an appropriate business or person. The association maintains a professionally managed web site for members to link to support their business.
- Economic benefits available to members in good standing (fees current) of the Auctioneers Association of Canada are available from selected businesses as approved by the Board of Directors. These include preferred MasterCard and Visa rates, liability insurance, group Life, Disability, Medical, Dental Plans, and preferred stationary and printing rates. The savings from the use of these services, exclusive to members only, more than reimburses your annual fees!
